On Monday, November 2nd, from 4:00-5:00pm ET, the McMaster DSC Outreach Team will be hosting a panel discussion to inspire students from typically non-tech backgrounds to get involved in tech. We will be having upper year students from a variety of faculties, including business, health sciences, life sciences, and engineering, speak about their experiences in tech, why they became interested in it, and how they use it in their lives. You will also have the opportunity to ask them any questions! This event is open to students from all faculties, so make sure to sign up!

Aras is a 4th Year Automation student at McMaster University. Aras has held numerous leadership positions such as the B.Tech representative and CRO on McMaster Engineering Society, Welcome Week representative for Off-Campus Orientation, Logistics Coordinator for Ontario Rover Rally, Design lead for MP-MD apprenticeship program and a FIRST Robotics Competition Mentor. Aras completed his 12-month co-op at McMaster Library as a Makerspace coordinator. As a Makerspace coordinator Aras led 50+ workshops teaching students and McMaster staff 3D printing, laser cutting and Arduino tinkering. Aras has received the Future Leaders Award for his contributions to his co-op placement.
Longxi is a third year student at McMaster University with interest in pursuing a career in healthcare. As self-taught UI/UX designer, she has won several accolades for her graphic design work. She works with start-ups and companies to develop technological solutions with an emphasis on consumer empathy.
Youssif was born in Guelph, and was raised in the US and abroad. He returned to Canada in 2016 to study Biology, and now studies Medicine as part of the Class of 2022. Youssif is interested in technology as it pertains to both scientific and medical applications, as well as for its use in artistic endeavours.
He is associated with 3D Design (mainly using Blender and associated tools), Video Editing (Final Cut Pro X), a bit of a foray into 3D Printing and even some collaborative research work with a professor of Materials Engineering (Dr. Ravi Selvaganapathy, looking at applications of microfluidics to help study of bacterial gene expression)
Alyssa is a third year Hons. B.Com student at the DeGroote School of Business, McMaster University, and is pursuing the Business Technology Management (BTM) Certificate. She has an area of focus in both Information Systems and Marketing and is interested in pursuing a career in data or marketing analytics. She is the Business Faculty Coordinator for the McMaster Artificial Intelligence Society, the Academic Associate for the DeGroote Commerce Society, and a First Year Orientation Mentor.
