This talk will go through the levels of computer vision, from low level subjects like brightness, converting to grayscale, and color segmentation, to mid level subjects like optical flow and stereo vision, to high level subjects like classification, object detection, and other methods of extracting semantic information from images. Not only will you be familiarized with what computer vision is but you’ll also get an idea of what cutting edge technologies are actually being used in computer vision systems today. As hardware and software become more optimized to support computer vision systems, we will definitely see a boom in the use of computer vision in robotics and other fields. So get ahead of the curve by coming to this talk.

Topics:

  • Where did CV come from?
  • A Low level CV (ie, how are images represented in computers)
  • Mid Level CV (ie, connecting images to the world)
  • High Level CV (ie, Convolutional Neural Networks)
  • Modern applications of CV
